Mosquitoes
I went camping this weekend and came home with a ton of mosquito bites. It got me thinking, I don’t mind letting mosquitoes feast on my blood. I have a lot of it and they really don’t eat much. I do, however, mind being covered in itchy red bumps. Why can’t they just take what they need without causing unpleasant skin irritation?
I wouldn’t attend a delicious, free, all-you-can-eat buffet and then thank the host by punching him in the face, you know?
Very good point. Makes me want to puke on Darwin’s corpse.
It’s probably to our advantage that mosquito bites are unpleasant since mosquitoes can carry disease - for example, malaria, West Nile virus, and various forms of encephalitis. If getting bitten didn’t feel bad, there wouldn’t be an incentive to avoid it.
